The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has allocated EGP 170 million for financing 169 brick factories in Al Saf City in Helwan to make them run on natural gas instead of heavy fuel (mazot), sources told Amwal Al Ghad.
Such move came as part of NBE’s contributions to reducing the emissions produced by factories powered by diesel and heavy fuel.
The bank earlier financed 200 brick factories in Arab Abu Saed area in Giza to covert them from using diesel and heavy fuel to natural gas.
The cost of delivering natural gas to these factories reached about EGP 140 million, as the costs of the external network is EGP 70 million, the internal network is EGP 70 million and the fuel replacement is EGP 700, 000.
In addition, NBE considers financing brick factories in Behira to convert them from using heavy fuel to natural gas.
