NBE To Launch Pre-Paid Cards Service Next March

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) will launch “Pre-Paid Cards” service next March which will enable customers to pay taxes and customs duties online, said Hazem Hegazy, head of branches and retail banking sector at NBE.

On the sidelines of the Second Annual Conference for Electronic Payments, Hegazy noted that the e-commerce volume in Egypt is increasing rapidly as the volume of procurement reached US$ 15 billion in the last two years.

NBE seeks to offer a new service for colleges as the bank met with the presidents of colleges to agree on applying a method enabling students to pay college fees via pre-paid cards which will be available in outlets.

Hegazy further added that the bank targets to make all financial transactions be conducted by the new system without the need for opening new accounts for customers.
