New Egyptian Governors Reshuffle Expected This Week

Adel Labib, minister of local development, said in statements to press during his visit to Qena that the cabinet will present to the presidency a new list of governors as part of a reshuffle this week.

Labib had stated earlier that it was agreed to establish three new governorates as part of President El-Sisi’s programme to redraw the national administrative structure.

Labib also revealed that a committee assigned to redraw governorate borders was currently receiving suggestions from sitting governors, and that within a two-month period the new borders would be announced.

An informed source told Reuters’ Aswat Masriya Saturday that the number of governors included in the reshuffle would be 10 to 15, and that there would be no change in governorate borders.
