Ministry of Industry and Trade is to grant new licences for cement factories in Upper Egypt governorates next September, Minister Monir Fakhry Abdel Nour said Sunday.
The minister made these remarks during his interview with “60 Minutes” radio show on Radio Masr hosted by media figure Dina Abdel Fattah.
He stated that the new licences target meeting future needs of local market for cement until 2020. The ministry will announce the new licences after finishing its studies on them.
Abdel Nour talked over the industry sector and the challenges it faces as well as ministry’s plan to enhance local industries and to solve manufacturers’ problems.
The minister further added that there are 39 complexes for handicraft industries over 17 governorates.
Trade ministry aims at launching more complexes for handicraft industries and developing them in order to enhance local production and boost the volume of Egyptian exports which does not exceed US$500 million, minister Abdel Nour clarified.
Moreover, Abdel Nour stated that the industry sector is currently facing problems and obstacles in line with state’s current conditions.
