New York plans a phased reopening as hospitalization rates continue to slow
New York is planning to reopen in phases as the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said state and regional hospitalisation rates have been in decline for 14 days.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday that phase one of the reopening will involve construction and manufacturing.
In phase two, Cuomo said businesses would need to design plans for re-opening, including having personal protective equipment and imposing social distancing, according to CNBC.
“We’re going to reopen in phases … look at the regional analysis, make a determination and then monitor whatever you do,” Cuomo added at a press briefing.
He said the re-opening plan must not attract visitors from other regions or states.
The state reported 367 deaths from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours in New York, down from 437 deaths on Saturday, Cuomo added.
