New York says to start new testing sites in coronavirus-hit African American and Latino communities
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday his state would start new testing facilities in African American and Latino communities, which have witnessed higher fatality rates from the coronavirus.
“Let’s learn how and why this virus kills, especially why we have higher fatality rates among African Americans and Latinos. Let’s understand it, but let’s also address it,” Cuomo said in a statement.
Surgeon General Jerome Adams told “CBS This Morning” earlier that African Americans are more likely to have pre-existing medical conditions which makes them vulnerable to be infected with the virus.
