Nigerian President Bola Tinubu arrived in India on Monday to attend the G20 Summit, seeking for the bloc’s membership after concluding consultations on the risks and benefits.
Tinubu’s attendance aims to promote foreign investment in Nigeria and to mobilise global capital to develop infrastructure, according to his spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, on Sunday.
Tinubu has been invited by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will attend the G20 Summit with some of his cabinet members including foreign affairs, finance and trade ministers.
Currently, South Africa is the only African country to be part of a grouping of the world’s 20 most industrialised nations.
