Nike temporarily shuts down European headquarters over coronavirus concerns
Nike’s European headquarters (EHQ) in the Netherlands will remain shut down for Monday and Tuesday as an employee was found to have infected with the coronavirus.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we are conducting a deep cleaning of the EHQ campus,” Nike said in a statement sent to CNBC, confirming it knew about an employee coronavirus case.
“All EHQ buildings and facilities will be closed until Wednesday.” the company added.
Around 2,000 Nike employees from 80 countries are estimated to work at the site.
As of Sunday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had confirmed seven cases of coronavirus – COVID-19 in the country, with no deaths.
