The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is planning to hold a meeting for its board of directors in the next Monday in order to put a deadline for offering the integrated operator license.
Senior sources informed NTRA that the outstanding problems between the three mobile phone operators and Telecom Egypt (TE)(ETAL-CA) did not achieve any solutions and this postponing the license until the end of the current month.
The sources said it is expected that the brochure terms of the license will be discussed on the Egyptian Cabinet in order to take decision regarding the final date for offering within days.
The sources explained that Vodafone Egypt’s share which captures 45% from the company’s shares is the large dilemma which is facing the license.
In December 2012, NTRA announced that the first offering of the license, TE obtained licenses for providing mobile phone services and operators.
Eng. Atef Helmy, Egyptian Information and Communication Technology Minister asserted that the final date of offering the license will be by the end of 2013 , so that the operators will operate services.
