Number of foreign workers in Egypt’s public sector falls 13.9% in 2018

The number of foreign workers in the country’s public sector dropped 13.9 percent during 2018, the state-owned statics agency CAPMAS announced on Tuesday.

In its annual bulletin on foreign workers in the public sector and the public business sector in 2018, CAPMAS said that the number dropped to 975 foreigners compared to 1,132 foreigners in 2017.

The bulletin pointed out that European countries represent the largest proportion of total foreign workers in the government sector by 55.7 percent, with 543 workers of European nationalities, followed by Asian countries with 194 foreigners.

Regarding the nature of the work, scientific professionals represent the largest number of foreign workers in the government sector at 64.5 percent, followed by managers by 21.4 percent, equal to 185 managers.
