Orascom Construction has added 250 megawatts to Egypt’s national power grid at West Damietta power plant two weeks ahead of schedule, the company announced Thursday.
The West Damietta is situated in about 200 kilometres (120 miles) north of Cairo,
Early completion of the first phase ensures that the additional power capacity is available for peak demand during Ramadan.
OC is part of a consortium building Assiut and West Damietta power plants on a fast-track basis. Once complete, Assiut and West Damietta power plants will have a power generation capacity of 1,000 megawatts and 500 megawatts, respectively.
Orascom Construction has now added a total of 925 megawatts to Egypt’s national power grid during May and June 2015 at Assiut, West Damietta and 6th of October City Phase II power plants.
