P&G seizes 42% of Egypt’s 9-month detergent exports

Procter and Gamble – Egypt (P&G) seized 42 percent of Egypt’s exports of detergents and air refresher products within the last nine months of 2015.

According to the report issued by the Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC) Sunday, P&G has imported Egyptian detergent products estimated at 337.3 million Egyptian pounds (US$43 million)

The report stated that the volume of Egyptian detergent exports has declined by 7.3 percent in January-September 2015 to record 900.1 million pounds opposed to 971.2 million pounds during the same period of 2014.

Galaxy Chemicals Egypt was the second largest importer with nine-month exports valued at 171.8 million Egyptian pounds, followed by Henkel Port Said Company that imported Egyptian detergents estimated at 73 million Egyptian pounds.

International Company for Investment and Development has imported Egyptian detergents worth 56 million pounds while Arma Soap & Detergents (ASD) came fifth attaining exports of 49.5 million pounds.

Moreover, the report said the list of top importing countries of Egyptian detergents and air refresher products includes Kenya, which had 22% to reach 143.6 million pounds at the end of September 2015. Lebanon comes in the second place, attaining exports of 118.6 million pounds, then Libya with 89.6 million pounds, and Saudi Arabia with 69.5 million pounds.
