Petrojet expands international operations, strengthens manufacturing capabilities

Egypt’s Petrojet secured new contracts worth 112 billion Egyptian pounds in 2024—60 per cent of which are outside Egypt—bringing its total projected business volume to 215 billion Egyptian pounds through 2028. This came during the company’s general assembly meeting, where Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy highlighted Petrojet’s pivotal role in energy and infrastructure projects.

Minister Badawy stressed the importance of promoting the company’s expertise internationally and directed coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to engage diplomatic missions and African petroleum organisations to strengthen its regional and global positioning.

Moreover, during the meeting, Petrojet Chairman Waleed Lotfy reviewed the company’s 2024 performance, marking its 50th anniversary since its establishment in 1975. He noted that the company is enhancing its global presence through strategic partnerships in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Jordan, the UAE, and Kuwait while targeting industrial projects in Iraq, Algeria, Oman, and emerging markets such as Mozambique, Angola, and Croatia. The company is also diversifying into seawater desalination, green hydrogen, and solar energy projects.

New Manufacturing Hubs in Algeria and Saudi Arabia

In line with its expansion, Petrojet is establishing a joint venture in Algeria with Sonatrach to manufacture static equipment—the first facility of its kind in the country—through Egyptian-Algerian investments. Additionally, Petrojet is preparing to launch a manufacturing hub in Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Energy Park in collaboration with Aramco.

Domestically, the company has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities by introducing advanced technologies, opening new production centres in Assiut, and developing facilities in Tebbin and New Alamein to support Egypt’s industrial projects, including the Dabaa nuclear plant.
