Petroleum sector is currently executing three new projects to upgrade Asyut refinery with investments worth US$1.8 billion to provide different petroleum products, petroleum minister Sherif Ismail said Tuesday.
Developing Asyut refinery comes among the strategy adopted by the sector to supply Upper Egypt governorates with their needs of different petroleum products, the minister added.
Ismail said that meeting citizens’ needs of different petroleum products is the strategic goal for the sector since it is executing a programme to provide sufficient amounts of Butane to cope with citizens’ consumption in winter.
The minister further noted that the sector is currently working to diverse supplying sources and executing new projects to expand transportation and storage networks as well as boosting the capacities through facilitating procedures of receiving imported Butane in the Egyptian ports.
