Pfizer says to test a coronavirus vaccine in thousands of people in September
Pfizer is planning to test its experimental coronavirus vaccine in thousands of people next September if the company stays on track, its chief executive Albert Bourla said on Tuesday.
“We are collecting data as we speak in real time so we know, we are monitoring the safety of the doses,” Bourla stated.
Speaking at CNBC’s Healthy Returns Virtual Summit, Bourla said Pfizer is currently testing four vaccine variations and will have conclusive data on which vaccine variation stands out in June or July.
If one or two variations indicate success, the U.S. drugmaker will ramp up trials, and then in September launch a broad large-scale study with thousands of participants if a vaccine proves to be successful, Bourla added.
