Plastics and Rubber Division, at the Chamber of Chemical Industries (CCI), emphasized its thorough commitment to the signed protocol with the Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene Company. This is to meet the needs of the Egyptian industry to the Polypropylene; aiming at protecting the Egyptian economy and the company’s hefty investments.
In a statement, the division referred that a large number of factories were negatively affected by issuing that decision; affirming that the industry minister’s decision of halting work with the substance is a national decision to protect the local factories that use this material, as well to increase the Egyptian exports of plastics, which amounted to EGP 5.5 billion in 2011.
Eng. Hatem Saleh, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, issued on 31-05-2012 a ministerial decision over imposing 15% fees on Egypt’s imports of the Polypropylene, till investigating the complaint that submitted by the Oriental Petrochemicals Company (OPC) and the Egyptian Propylene & Polypropylene Company.
