PM Boris Johnson says UK has passed the coronavirus peak
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday the country has officially passed the peak of its coronavirus outbreak.
However, Johnson did not lay out a roadmap for the UK to eventually lift its restrictions on public life, something which other countries in Europe have been gradually doing.
“I can confirm today that for the first time we are past the peak of this disease,” Johnson said in his first appearance at the government’s daily briefing since returning to work after falling ill with coronavirus.
“We’re past the peak and we’re on the downward slope.”
