Poland plans to file a complaint with the European Commission against Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI after its chatbot, Grok, made offensive remarks about Polish politicians, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
Digitisation Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said the government would ask Brussels to investigate the incident and consider possible penalties for the X platform.
“Freedom of speech belongs to humans, not to artificial intelligence,” he told RMF FM radio on Wednesday, according to Reuters, warning that unchecked AI-generated hate speech could pose long-term risks.
The move follows growing concerns over political bias and hate content in AI tools. Grok recently deleted controversial posts after users and watchdog groups, including the Anti-Defamation League, flagged antisemitic and pro-Hitler content.
Earlier, a Turkish court blocked some Grok responses for insulting national leaders and religious values.
Gawkowski stressed that ignoring algorithm-driven hate speech would be “a mistake that may cost humanity in the future”.
