Portuguese trade exchange with Egypt hit €194mn

The trade exchange between Egypt and Portugal witnessed a modest rise in 2015 to hit €194 million versus €166 million in 2014, marking 16.9 percent increase.

Egyptian Trade Minister Tarek Qabil stated Tuesday that both states keen to boost trade exchange volume to suit the mutual political relations.

He asserted that the Egyptian government exerting efforts to improve business climate to attract more direct foreign investments to Egypt, notably the Portuguese ones, within the coming period.

The minister made these remarks during his meeting with Portuguese Foreign Affairs Minister Augusto Santos Silva who is currently visiting Egypt.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing intra-trade rates and joint investment projects between Egypt and Portugal within the coming period.

On other side, Silva asserted that his visit to Cairo comes as pursuant to his country’s keenness to enhance bilateral political and economic relations with Egypt.

He added that the set-to-be visit of Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will contribute at tightening relations between Egypt and Portugal.
