Egypt’s Public Transport Authority has reported losses totaled EGP 13 million during 18 days since the events of Nahda and Rabaa squares sit-ins dispersal.
Major General Hisham Attia, deputy head of Public Transport Authority, revealed that the authority’s daily losses reached around EGP 900.000 daily losses, equivalent to 10% of the total daily revenue of EGP1 million, during the first week of the sit-ins dispersal events and the beginning of applying curfew.
He pointed out to the huge losses which require to only running 10% of the total fleet due to the fear of workers’ authority to break the curfew especially that most of them come from governorates.
He also added that the size of losses have reduced from the beginning of the second week of applying curfew, noting that the authority incurred EGP600.000 daily losses.
