In a press conference held at its offices at the Qatar Science and Technology Park, the QU Wireless Innovations Center (QUWIC), revealed its new brand name and identity.
The press conference was lead by Mr. Abdulla Al-Talib, Chairman of QUWIC, and Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director (CEO).
The event was a soft launch of their new brand identity where they proudly announced that Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) is their new brand name, which will be used from this day forward. This marks an important and pivotal milestone for QMIC since it focuses on positioning itself as the regional leader in mobility innovations.
Mr. Abdulla Al-Talib said, “We have been working on the rebranding exercise for sometime now and we are very pleased to have concluded with choosing Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC). Our goal is to have a brand name that reflects our unique positioning and supports our objective in creating differentiated platforms and services that will translate into knowledge-based ventures in Qatar”.
Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya said, “The new brand name clearly demonstrates our national positioning, re-emphasizes our focus on delivering innovations to the market, and clearly demonstrates our focus on the important and emerging Mobility trends. For QMIC, mobility plays a role in two fronts. First, QMIC will focus on the use of mobile and wireless technologies to create innovations. Secondly, mobility represents a lifestyle that requires a new breed of solutions, business models, and services that cater for this lifestyle.”
Dr. Abu-Dayya added, “With the name change, we hope QMIC is going to be in much better position to present itself as a regional innovations center that focuses on creating smart living services. QMIC’s brand name has been changed, but its mission, vision and values remain intact”
To demonstrate its rapid progress, QMIC has announced in the last few months a number of solutions and initiatives including: QMIC’s Intelligent Sensing and M2M Services Platform (Labeeb), the Intelligent Transportation & Logistics Services (Masarak), Environmental Air Quality Monitoring System (Hawa’ak), Arabic eContent delivery platform (Kutobi), and its Connected Car Platform and applications.
Dr. Abu-Dayya concluded, “Since its inception in 2009 as a partnership between Qatar University and the Qatar Science and Technology Park, QMIC outlined an aggressive R&D and commercialization Strategy. We are proud of the progress we have made so far, and we want to express our thanks and appreciations to all of our employees for their dedication and to strategic partners for their support and trust.”
