Qtel Fights Hacking Attempts in Qatar

Qtel has said it is working with ictQATAR to combat a wave of recent hacking and phishing attempts impacting customers in the country.

So far in 2012, the telecoms operator recorded an upsurge in the number of reported phishing attempts received by customers, as Gult Times stated.

In particular, there has been an increase in the number of attempts received from outside of Qatar, particularly from neighbouring countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, pretending to be calling from Qatari institutions in an attempt to trick the receiver into sharing personal information, Qtel said.
