Remittances from Egyptian expats 13.6% up in Q1-FY20 – c.bank

Remittances from Egyptian expats rose 13.6 percent year-on-year to $6.7 billion during the first quarter of the 2019/2020 financial year, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Tuesday.

Remittances earlier stood at $5.9 billion during the first quarter of the 2018/2019 financial year.

Remittances are one of the country’s main sources of foreign currency.
