Road accident leaves 12 police conscripts, 6 others dead in South Sinai

Eighteen people died Wednesday night when a truck and a microbus collided in South Sinai’s Abu-Redees- Tur highway, Egypt’s interior ministry said in a Facebook statement.

Twelve of the 18 victims were police conscripts who were assigned to the Dahab police station, four were students and two of the victims remain unidentified.

Daily accidents claim the lives of thousands of people every year in Egypt, mainly due to poor road safety and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
