Romania, Egypt ink 4 MoUs in joint committee meeting

Egyptian and Romanian ministers have signed Friday four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in several fields, including economic and agricultural issues.

Egypt’s Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr have signed memorandums that related to science, agriculture, small and medium-sized projects, water resources and irrigation, alongside her Romanian counterparts.

The minister also witnessed the signing of a MOU between Romania’s Constanta Port and Alexandria Port Authority, a statement from the ministry read.

The memorandums were signed in Bucharest, during the second round of meetings of the joint Egyptian-Romanian ministerial committee for economic cooperation.

Nasr asserted the importance of the committee’s meetings, which have not been held since 2010.

She highlighted the importance of continued rounds to accomplish a major leap forward in the history of relations between the two countries, according to the statement.

On Friday, Nasr said that Romanian investments in Egypt amount for about $88 million, invested in 60 companies in several fields including tourism, industry, services, information technology, banking, and agriculture.

According to the statement, Egyptian investments in Romania, which include investment in the food and drink sector and in real estate, total $100 million. Source: Ahram online
