Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has expressed his country’s willingness to bolster bilateral relations with Egypt as well as to finance several enterprises there, notably the nuclear projects.
Speaking about his recent trip to Egypt, Lavrov has revealed to Rossiiskaya Gazeta (The Russian Gazette) in an interview published on Wednesday the government’s ‘multiple plans’ to promote the cooperation between Moscow and Cairo.
The Russian minister noted that the largest number of tourists visiting Egypt is from Russia, which also tends to be one of the key wheat exporters to the North African country. He also referred to upcoming joint plans to establish an industrial zone and bolster the bilateral technical military cooperation as well.
“Russia has never considered to sever its relations with Egypt after the uprising.” He added
“The Russian-Egyptian relationship is based on friendship … Russia is willing to finance projects in Egypt, notably its nuclear ones.”
