Russia-Japan trade turnover falls 32.47% Y-o-Y in July ’24
Trade turnover between Japan and Russia fell by 32.47 per cent year-on-year in July 2024, totalling 70.7 billion yen ($487 million).
LNG imports from Russia plummeted by 63.9 per cent, and coal purchases dropped by 80.2 per cent.
In July, Japan did not import any Russian oil. However, Russian energy resources still make up about 70 per cent of Japan’s imports.
Passenger car supplies from Russia decreased by 34.3 per cent, while exports of Japanese components to Russia increased by 13 per cent.
Imports of fish and fish products from Russia rose by 18.8 per cent, but Russian grain supplies fell by 12.3 per cent. Plastic imports from Russia declined by 34.9 per cent, whereas exports of paper and paper products to Russia surged by 45 per cent.
