Russia to contribute €1m to UN climate convention
Russia will make a one-time voluntary contribution of €1 million to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), according to an executive order.
The payment aims to support the representation of Russian staff in the convention’s secretariat, enhancing Russia’s role in climate change discussions.
The UNFCCC, established in 1994, seeks to stabilise greenhouse gas emissions to prevent harmful human impact on the climate. To date, 197 countries and territories have ratified the convention.
