Russian indices dip at opening

Russian stock indices declined at the start of trading on the Moscow Exchange. As of 10:15 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index fell to 2,827.12 points, down 0.74 per cent, while the RTS index dropped to 1,012.14 points, a 2.36 per cent decrease.

The yuan-to-rouble exchange rate also dropped by 0.25 kopecks to 11.872 roubles. Earlier, at 10:00 a.m., the MOEX index had decreased by 0.28 per cent to 2,952.19 points, and the RTS index had declined by 1.9 per cent to 1,077.27 points.

The yuan initially rose by 2.5 kopecks but then edged lower.
