The South African rand remained stable in early trading on Tuesday at 18.90 against the U.S. dollar, compared to its previous close of 18.91, ahead of the release of local mining production data, Reuters reports on Tuesday.
Statistics South Africa is set to release December mining output figures around 0930 GMT, following positive November data showing a 6.8 per cent increase in overall output.
On the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Top-40 index was up 0.1 per cent in early trading. The benchmark 2030 government bond also saw a slight increase, with the yield falling 2 basis points to 10.025 per cent.
