S. Korea’s consumer prices edge down in Nov. ’24

South Korea’s consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.3 per cent in November 2024 compared to the previous month, according to data from Statistics Korea on Tuesday. However, it still registered a 1.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

The core CPI, excluding food and energy, remained unchanged from the previous month at 111.44, but saw a 1.9 per cent year-on-year increase.

The index for clothing and footwear, health, transport, education, restaurants and hotels, and miscellaneous goods and services all saw slight increases ranging from 0.1 per cent to 1.0 per cent compared to the previous month.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages, furnishings, household equipment & routine maintenance, and recreation and culture decreased by 2.6 per cent, 0.4 per cent, and 0.5 per cent, respectively.
