S. Korea’s PPI drops by 0.2% in Sept.

South Korea’s Producer Price Index (PPI) declined by 0.2 per cent in September 2024 compared to the previous month. This marks a slight contraction in producer prices, but on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the PPI showed a 1.0 per cent increase.

Among the major sub-indices, the agricultural, forestry, and marine products category recorded the most significant month-on-month (MoM) rise, surging by 5.3 per cent. In contrast, manufacturing products experienced a 0.7 per cent decline, contributing to the overall dip in the PPI.

The electric power, gas, water, and waste category showed a modest rise of 0.9 per cent, while services edged down by 0.2 per cent during the same period.
