Egypt plans to build 18 wheat silos during the current financial year 2017/2018, financed by the Saudi Fund for Development and the Italian debt swap programme.
The capacity and costs of the planned silos have not set yet, Egyptian Supply Ministry’s media advisor Mohamed Sweed told Amwal Al Ghad on Monday.
The silos will be built in Suez, Beheira, Qalyubia, Alexandria, and Fayoum governorates, Sweed said.
Egypt, the world’s top importer of grain, has built 57 silos with a storage capacity of 1.72 million tonnes during the financial year 2016/2017.
