Saudi Arabia, U.S. inks deal to set up intercontinental green corridor

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United States formalised an agreement through a MoU to establish intercontinental green transit corridors, the two governments said in a joint statement on Saturday.

The intercontinental green transit corridor, which would be through the Kingdom to connect the continent of Asia with the continent of Europe, aims to facilitate the transit of renewable electricity and clean hydrogen via cables and pipelines.

It also seeks to enhance energy security, support efforts for the development of clean energy, promote the digital economy through digital connectivity and transmission of data via fiber cables.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed the role of the U.S. to facilitate and support the negotiations, establishment, and implementation of the green corridors transit protocol with the two countries.
