Saudi Folk Maritime acquires 1st container ship

Saudi Arabia’s Folk Maritime, a subsidiary of Public Investment Fund (PIF), has acquired its first container ship, Folk Jeddah. The vessel will be registered at the Jeddah Islamic Port to enhance regional maritime connectivity.

This acquisition marks a significant step in advancing the region’s maritime logistics capabilities, aligning with the Kingdom’s vision to become a global logistics hub.

Built in 2023, Folk Jeddah features a modern design focused on sustainability and energy efficiency, reflecting Folk Maritime’s commitment to high international standards.

The container ship, with a capacity of 1,868 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), is expected to strengthen maritime connections, support the regional supply chain, and create job opportunities. It will enter service at the Jeddah Islamic Port soon.
