The Chairman of the National Commission for Combating Corruption in Saudi Arabia lauded the Shura Council’s decision to approve the Kingdom’s admission to the International Academy for Corruption-combat Arrangement, based in Vienna, Austria.
Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Sharif highlighted in a statement on Saudi Press Agency on Wednesday that the Kingdom’s joining of this arrangement is a very positive step towards enhancing international cooperation, exchange of information, opinion, experiences in the field of combating corruption.
The National Commission for Combating Corruption was formed in May 2011 to fight government corruption and reports directly to the King.
Saudi Arabia was classified in the 66 position after scoring 44 grades in the Corruption Receptions Index of 2012 by the Transparency International. A country or territory’s score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0-100, where 0 means that a country is perceived as highly corrupt and 100 means it is perceived as very clean.
