The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed on Monday a cooperation protocol with Arab Company for Pharmaceutical Raw Materials (Arab API) to establish a state-of-the-art multipurpose raw materials factory.
The facility, spanning 96,828 square metres, will focus on manufacturing raw materials, intermediates, and chemicals for the pharmaceutical industry.
SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien emphasised that the project marks a significant move toward localising pharmaceutical industries in Egypt, promoting self-sufficiency, and narrowing the supply-demand gap in essential medicines. He also highlighted SCZONE’s strong infrastructure and investment-friendly environment as key factors supporting such initiatives.
SCZONE has allocated 4 million square metres for a pharmaceutical industrial zone, building on past successes like Ateco Pharma and Gennvax factories. The initiative aligns with Egypt’s vision to become a regional pharmaceutical hub.
