Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transport and Sustainable Development announced on Sunday that British giant Shell will supply 500 million cubic metres of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Morocco annually, under a 12-year contract.
The Ministry said in a statement without disclosing financial terms of the transaction that the contract was signed between the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and Shell.
Under the agreement, LNG will be supplied during the first years of Spanish ports and shipped to Morocco via the Maghreb–Europe Gas Pipeline. The gas will then be supplied directly through Morocco’s future LNG conversion units.
