Siemens Egypt chief Ghaly named GACIC new president in board revamp

The board of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC- AHK Egypt) has been revamped on Wednesday with Siemens Egypt’s chief Emad Ghaly named as its new president.

GACIC has been involved in promoting Germany’s business relations with Egypt, North Africa, and the Middle East since it was established in Cairo in 1951.

The other board change saw Ayman Nafea, who serves as general manager of BASF Limited, named vice chairman of the GACIC. Amgad Hussein, vice chairman of Alexandria Construction Company, was named vice chairman of the GACIC for the technical affairs.

The Egyptian side of the GACIC’s new board included Helmy Abouleish, chairman of SEKEM; Nader Riad, chairman of Bavaria Egypt; Farid El Tobgui, chairman of Bavarian Auto Group; Hassanein Tawfiq, general manager of ACT; and Thibaud Weick, CEO of Mortimer Harvey Africa Middle East.

The German side comprised of Thomas Zorn, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Egypt; Andreas Loeffler, Lufthansa Cargo Egypt’s senior director; Burkhard Hinz, director of the KfW Development Bank Office in Cairo. It also included Hassan Wardani, general manager of Evonik Tasnee Marketing Ltd; and Martin Boller, general manager of RKW Egypt Ltd.

Jan Noether has been named CEO of the chamber as of June 2018. Noether served as the CEO of the German chamber of commerce in Vietnam, Shanghai, and most recently in Turkey.
