Siemens Egypt has named Emad Ghaly as the new chief executive starting from July 1st, the company announced in a release on Sunday.
Ghaly succeeds Maximilian Egger, who will retire by the end of September 2016. Egger has served as CEO and Managing Director of Siemens Egypt since November 2014.
Ghaly’s previous responsibilities include Senior Executive Vice President for Wind and Renewables, for Siemens in the Middle East and at the same time, the Senior Executive Vice President for Power and Gas, for Siemens in Egypt.
Emad Ghaly – a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University – has been working in several management positions in Egypt and Europe for more than 18 years.
Ghaly has completed his MBA, in 2002, at the American University in Cairo. With an extensive international experience, he assumed different posts in several industries and business fields at different locations; Germany, Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Egypt and Middle East.
Ghaly has 18 years of substantial experience in a wide range of business and general management areas including telecommunications, IT, strategic planning, corporate development, government affairs, and energy sector.
Currently based in Cairo, Ghaly is also a Member of the Advisory Board of REmena and the Egyptian German Business Council.
Ghaly has a diverse experience and exposure to the energy market in the Middle East and his excellent understanding of the different trends and drivers of the market. He is advising key decision makers in Egypt on the way forward to achieve sustainable energy system taking into consideration the mixed challenges that the market is facing.
He is playing a key role in the mega deal of Siemens with the Egyptian government.
Ghaly has a deep understanding of the different energy technologies including oil & gas, fossil, wind, solar, energy efficiency and energy mix scenarios.
