Singapore’s manufacturing sector staged a strong rebound in the third quarter of 2024, expanding by 7.5 per cent year-on-year. This follows a 1.1 per cent contraction in the previous quarter.
All manufacturing clusters except for biomedical manufacturing contributed to the sector’s growth. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, manufacturing output surged by 9.9 per cent, as per an advance estimates published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Monday.
The construction sector also grew by 3.1 per cent year-on-year, down from 4.8 per cent in the previous quarter. Public sector construction projects drove this growth. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the sector’s growth moderated to flat.
