Singapore’s unemployment rate continued its downward trend, reaching 1.8 per cent in September 2024, down from 1.9 per cent in the previous month, as per a recent data published by the Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday.
Residents and citizens’ rates remained stable at 2.6 per cent and 2.7 per cent respectively, according to the report.
The report added that total employment experienced significant growth in the third quarter of 2024, increasing by 24,100 jobs. This figure more than doubled the growth observed in the second quarter, which saw an increase of 11,300 jobs.
Both resident and non-resident employment contributed to this positive trend, with both sectors experiencing accelerated growth in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter.
