Sisi approves Carry On project to unify food outlet branding ahead of Ramadan

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi approved the launch of the national Carry On project on Tuesday, aimed at unifying the branding of food complexes and outlets across the country.

Sisi also directed ongoing field monitoring and full coordination among relevant authorities to ensure the efficiency of the food supply system and that support reaches its intended beneficiaries.

The announcement came during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply Sherif Farouk, Minister of Agriculture Alaa Eldin Farouk, and Brigadier General Bahaa El-Ghannam to review preparations for the upcoming month of Ramadan.

President Sisi emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring of food availability nationwide, enforcing price compliance, discount rates, and product quality, and holding accountable those who overcharge.

Minister Farouk confirmed that all essential goods are available in sufficient quantities, with Ahlan Ramadan exhibitions offering discounts of 15 to 25 per cent, alongside the preparation and distribution of 2.5 million Ramadan boxes and gift packages.

The meeting also reviewed developments in Egypt’s food security system. The President examined the status of strategic reserves of essential food commodities. He directed maintaining and strengthening these reserves and achieving self-sufficiency in agricultural, livestock, and poultry products.

Sisi also called for updating agricultural breeds through coordination with relevant ministries and Egypt’s Future of Sustainable Development Agency.

Discussions covered activating the commodity exchange to secure fair prices, protect producers and consumers, and position Egypt as a regional logistics hub for strategic goods trade. Sisi emphasised continued coordination between ministries and the Sustainable Development Agency to sustain national food security.
