Egypt’s Sisi, Greece’s Mitsotakis discusses partnership
10th Trilateral Mechanism Summit
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed the long-standing and robust relationship between their nations on the sidelines of the 10th Trilateral Mechanism Summit on Wednesday. This annual summit brings together Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece to discuss strategic regional matters.
The two leaders discussed several avenues for deepening bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on economic ties, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman on Wednesday. Both countries stressed the importance of intensifying collaboration within the East Mediterranean Gas Forum and advancing the long-awaited electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece. They also agreed to expand cooperation on migration and seasonal labour recruitment, with the aim of fostering greater economic and social integration.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Egypt and Greece to enhance their partnership and to work together in addressing common challenges and opportunities, ensuring that their historical ties continue to evolve in a modern context.
