The seasonally adjusted S&P Global Australia Services PMI Business Activity Index remained above the 50.0 no-change mark for the sixteenth consecutive month in May, signalling continued growth in the services sector.
However, the index dropped to 50.6 from 51.0 in April, marking the slowest pace of growth in six months and indicating only a marginal rise in activity.
The slowdown in services activity mirrored a similar trend in new business, which increased at the slowest rate in a ten-month expansion sequence.
Meanwhile, export business declined for the third consecutive month, with respondents citing reduced orders from clients in the US, UK, and Southeast Asian markets.
