S&P Global: China manufacturing growth eases slightly in Dec. ’24

China’s manufacturing sector grew for the third month continuously in December but at a slower pace, as the headline seasonally adjusted Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 50.5 in December from 51.5 in November.

While remaining above the 50.0 neutral mark, which separates expansion from contraction, the latest data signalled a marginal overall improvement in operating conditions and a deceleration in the rate of growth.

Manufacturing production in China has now increased for 14 consecutive months. However, the rate of expansion slowed to a marginal pace in December, coinciding with a slowdown in new order growth.
