New Starbucks CEO, Laxman Narasimhan, has stepped in two weeks earlier than planned and joined the board on Monday, and expected to lead the company’s annual shareholder meeting on Thursday.
The meeting will be held to explain the earlier than expected decision.
Narasimhan was announced as the coffee chain company’s upcoming CEO on October 1, since then, he has been shadowing former CEO, Howard Schultz, and was set to take over on April 1.
The new shift in leadership comes during Starbucks facing an on growing wave of workers unionising, as almost 300 stores have voted with unionising.
