Egypt’s Misr AlKawya Party (Strong Egypt party) for peaceful march to the Heliopolis palace on Thursday 29th, to refuse the constitutional declaration, and calling the president to rescind it except the two articles of deposing the attorney general as well retrials.
The centrist party, led by former presidential candidate and former leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh, had earlier introduced its own proposal for a way out of the political crisis caused by the decree, which many political groups have opposed.
The party’s initiative comes as several thousand protesters remain in Tahrir Square following Tuesday’s mass demonstrations, when hundreds of thousands took to the streets against the constitutional decree.
Strong Egypt had proposed that the president to cancel the decree, with the exception of two articles, one calling for the removal of the prosecutor-general and another calling for the re-opening of investigations regarding crimes committed against peaceful protesters.
The party is also calling for the restructuring of the interior ministry and an immediate halt to “its oppressive tactics towards protesters.”
