Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil El-Tayeb Idris on Thursday praised Egypt’s continued support for Sudanese civilians fleeing conflict and pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation during a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Moustafa Madbouly.
Speaking after high-level talks at Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, Idris described the bond between Egypt and Sudan as “unbreakable,” and said there was “full consensus” between the two countries on regional and international issues discussed during the meeting.
“I stand here on behalf of the Sudanese people to express deep gratitude to Egypt—its president, government and people—for hosting millions of Sudanese in these extraordinary circumstances caused by the devastating war in our country,” Idris said.
The Sudanese premier emphasised that the message of appreciation came from “an entire nation, not just its prime minister,” and pledged to reciprocate Egypt’s solidarity and generosity.
Idris said both sides exchanged views on key national, regional, and global matters, and agreed to activate outcomes of the talks through joint political and technical committees.
“Our pact with Egypt will not break, and our shared vision will serve the interests of both countries and future generations,” he said.
Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to Sudan’s stability, highlighting “deep-rooted historic ties and a shared destiny” between the two neighbours.
Senior ministers from both governments attended the press conference, including Egypt’s foreign, culture, and tourism ministers, and Sudan’s foreign and information ministers.
