Egypt’s vital waterway Suez Canal witnessed on Sunday the crossing of 44 ships at weight of 2.384 million tons.
21 ships have passed through the Suez Canal coming from the North at weight of 1.356 million tons.
The biggest ship coming from the north was UK container CMA CGM Marco Polo at weight of 179 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal coming from the south hit 23 at weight of 1.028 million. The biggest ship coming from the south was UK container ship CMA CGM Andromeda at weight of 138 thousand tons.
The canal is one of Egypt’s main sources of foreign revenue. Revenues hit $438.1m in May after 1,431 vessels crossed the waterway carrying a combined cargo of 79.7m tons.
